Privacy notice

For the Sevenyear pilot list and the people we contact about research calls. Last updated 7 October 2026.

Who we are

Sevenyear is a project of Sohus Ltd ("we"), a company registered in England and Wales (number 09369062), registered office 167–169 Great Portland Street, 5th Floor, London W1W 5PF. We are the controller of the details you give us, registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under number ZC111701. Contact: privacy@fileseal.uk.

What we collect

Your email address, how you're interested (probate firm, executor, investor or just curious), the firm or organisation name if you give one, the date you signed up, and the wording you agreed to.

Why, and on what basis

To email you about the Sevenyear pilot, including when places open. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the form. You can withdraw it at any time.

Who else sees it

We don't sell your details or share them for anyone else's marketing. They are stored with our hosting and database providers, Vercel and Upstash, who process them only on our instructions. Some of their processing may take place outside the UK; where it does, it is covered by contractual safeguards recognised under UK law (such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum). Ask us for a copy.

When you visit this site, our host (Vercel) keeps standard request logs, including your IP address, for security and to keep the site running, for no longer than its standard log retention period. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website. The site uses no analytics and no tracking cookies, and loads its fonts from our own server.

If we've contacted you about a research call

If you work at a probate firm, we may email or phone you at work to ask for a short research call about how your team handles lifetime gifts. We take your name, role and work contact details from your firm's website or professional directories. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: understanding how probate firms do this work before we build anything for them, and, if your firm is interested, inviting it to take part in our pilot. You can object at any time and we'll stop at once.

We keep your details, and notes of any call, with our email and spreadsheet provider. If you don't reply, we delete them six months after our first email; if we've spoken, two years after our last conversation, or sooner if you ask. If you tell us not to contact you again, we stop at once and keep only your email address or number on a do-not-contact list, so we don't contact you by mistake; our lawful basis for that list is our legitimate interest in respecting your objection, and it is the one thing we keep even if you ask us to delete your details. You can object at any time by replying or by emailing privacy@fileseal.uk.

How long we keep it

Pilot list: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or two years after you signed up or last replied to us, whichever comes first. Research contacts: as above. Do-not-contact list: for as long as we contact firms, holding only what's needed to honour it. Website logs: our host's standard log retention period.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your details, ask us to correct, delete or restrict them, object to our use of them, ask for them in a portable form where that right applies, or withdraw consent, by emailing privacy@fileseal.uk. Every email we send includes a way to unsubscribe. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
